Green Web Host at Taproot
Wind-powered green web hosting site to try
I had been through the ropes with all web hosts when I received an email from someone who just designed their website through a green web host with wind-powered hosting. I followed the link. I asked thirty questions, all of which were answered amiably by the webmaster himself, Chad. I even received a welcome email from Stacy, you’ll meet her later.
I was in. However, not just becasue they were ‘green’.
A green web host needs to offer more than wind-powered, carbon free. They have to understand my economy and needs for learning and eventual domain ‘independence’ as a business owner. And Taproot Hosting does.
They offer comprehensive shared hosting plans. They also offer hands on assistance with web design and other webmaster services. Finally the pricing is reasonable.
Taproot Hosting is a green web host that purchases renewable energy credits from companies that produce wind power. link
I was able to inject my seven business and entertainment domains and blogs onto the web from one source, through Wordpress.org with the support of the webmaster. Today I ask less questions of Chad, but he is always there for troubleshooting.
I knew that I needed access to a webhost with blog applications right on site. I am a writer, after all. I also needed access to my database. This was my list…..
- Free, live support.
- Unlimited storage which enabled me to know ahead of time I was into an economical partnership with my new web host.
- Unlimited bandwidth with no extra fees.
- Unlimited web sites because I was paying one host for every site I had and it ran me in the end, about $80 a month, between the domain names and privacy on each one every month.
- Access to my root files so I am able to work independently. I have access files right down to all my public_html folders for .htaccess and robots.txt which gives me the ability to make my sites more search engine friendly. Some web hosts do not allow much ability, green web hosts or not.
- Windpowered green web hosts.
- A company with built in green habits and employees, as well.
- I also needed backup, even though I have a backup service through MCW. This is what Taproot says about their backup service for my domains. “MULTIPLE BACKUPS. We run nightly backups of all your website and mail data. Once a week we copy the entire backup dataset off site in case a meteor hits the collocation center.” Cool, I say, because I am all about being prepared for meteors and such. For my life story, read Women’s Fiction Blog: Myths, Dense Observations and Lies We Are Told. Then you will understand.
Anyway….
With Taproot Hosting, I found all these requirements. I have been able to build an online empire, as planned. I will write until I die. Simplicity. Green. Bliss.
By the way, Taproot Hosting works with small to medium-sized businesses, creatives such as artists, musicians and authors – of which I am one, an author that is. They specialize in hosting activists and environmental organizations, LGBTQ and minority groups, non-profit organizations and women in business. See, I qualify for many niches. You probably do too.
Try it!
